Marlboro Brand and its Origin

Almost everyone has used Marlboro, but have you ever thought about its origin? No right. Then I will take you to history, Marlboro Cigarettes was named following Great Marlborough. Great Marlborough is a street in London where the factory was established in 1924 by Philip Morris. But today the largest manufacturing plant is located in Richmond, Virginia. This British cigarette manufacturer pioneered women’s cigarette with its catchphrase: “Mild as May”. Alan Brody, the creator of Cigarette Seduction, bring into notice that image of the pack is projected to look like a medal.

In 1926, a series of ads was advertised which mainly targeted female consumers. Thus the advertisements were made with elegant women facade in plush settings. However, the World War II faltered the brand and for the time being it is taken off the market. After 1942, Philip Morris to re-introduce Marlboro and then he promoted it as the “safer” filtered brand. This re-introduction of the Marlboro was due to the reason that during 1942 Reader’s Digest published an article on their July edition titled “Cigarette Advertising Fact and Fiction”. This article enlightened that all cigarettes are tedious, regardless of brand. The “Marlboro Country” which belongs to the Marlboro kind with those rocky cowboys also identified as “Marlboro Men” was first seen in 1960’s.

Philip Morris also included “Marlboro Miles” above the barcode on each pack of Marlboro cigarettes which you all might have noticed. Marlboro cigarettes has a red tip characteristic, which hide lipstick inscription that women would leave while smoking have made them one of the cause to be the top among popular brands. In 1992, Marlboro was identified as world’s most priceless brand.
